Fire Alarm System
Update Number 1
Richard Means, General Manager
April 22, 2008
This month Paramount Security and Technology has started updating the Fire
Alarm System. This will consist of all new wiring, panels and alarm devices for
the Fire Alarm System. This project is estimated to take about 1 year. The money
for this project is already in the reserves and no special assessment is
necessary.
Here are a few of the items going on now:
Scanning:
This process was started on March 26, 2008 and was finished on April 11,2008.
This involved scanning the concrete in each trash room on the 2nd
floor and the 3rd Electrical Rooms. This allowed Paramount Security
and Technology to know right where to drill for the placement of the new conduit.
Coring:
This process started on April 14, 2008 and will continue through April 25,
2008. Paramount is drilling a hole (coring) through the 2nd, 3rd
4th and 5th floors which will allow them to run the
conduit from floor to floor. The new wire will be pulled through the conduit at
a later date. So far they have completed the 300 side. There will be some noise
associated with this but it will be mainly in the 3rd floor
Electrical Rooms.
Conduit:
Paramount has begun to run the conduit from building to building. They will
be using powder activated tools. This will cause some noise but mostly in the
garages. This is estimated to take until June 10, 2008.
Exterior of Building:
The City approved the 1st (scratch coat) and 2nd (brown
coat) layers of the stucco that has already been completed. The building is now
water tight and the big blue tarp has been removed.
Trailers:
The trailers out behind the South Tennis Courts belong to Paramount Security
and Technology. They will be there for the duration of the Fire Alarm Project.
Fire Alarm Panels and Enunciators:
The main fire alarm panels and enunciators will be installed in each building
as the conduit is installed in each building. These will just be the "shell" of
the devices so that the conduit can be attached.
